Effect of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber twist.

Effect on the yarn length. After the twist, the fiber leans, shortening the length of the yarn, producing twist shrinkage.
Influence on the yarn density and diameter. When the twist coefficient is large, the inner yarn fibers are dense and the interfiber gap decreases, making the density of the yarn increase, while the diameter decreases. When the twist coefficient increases to a certain extent, the compressibility of the yarn is reduced, and the density and diameter do not change much, but the fiber can be slightly thicker due to the excessive tilt of the fiber.
Strong influence on the yarn. For single yarn, when the twist coefficient is small, the strength of the yarn increases with the twist coefficient increases, but when the twist coefficient increases to a critical value, and then increase the twist coefficient, the yarn strength decreases instead. For the strands, the twist factor of the strands coefficient on the strength in addition to the same as the single yarn, but also affected by the twist amplitude, even distributed twist amplitude can make the fiber strongly uniform.
Influence on the elongation of the yarn fracture. For single yarn, within the range of common twist coefficient, with the increase of twist coefficient, for the strands, the strands fracture elongation increases with the twist coefficient, and the strands fracture elongation decreases with the twist coefficient.
When the twist coefficient of the yarn is large, the fiber tilt angle is larger, the luster is poor, and the feel is hard.
